Pastoral Ministry This degree is designed for those planning to do the work of a pastor, assistant pastor or evangelist. It requires a total of 100 semester hours at MBC and/or another approved college, plus a thesis on a Bible or theological topic approved by the Dean of Students, and a passing grade on the Doctrinal Comprehension Exam. A candidate for this degree must have attended MBC at least part-time during his senior year, and must have completed at least 36 credit hours in residence at MBC. This pastor’s course attempts to fully equip a man to carry on the work of a pastor. A studentwill be taught how to build a church and Sunday school, how to perform the duties of a pastor, and how to resolve problems which will confront him. He is given a thorough knowledge of the Bible and is taught how to apply its precepts and principles.
Because I Timothy 3:2 states that a pastor must be “. . .the husband of one wife. . .,”Massillon Baptist College does not award this degree to women or divorced men. top Missions This degree is designed for those planning to do the work of a missionary. It requires a total of 100 semester hours at MBC and/or another approved college, plus a thesis on a missions topic approved by the Dean of Students, and a passing grade on the Doctrinal Comprehension Exam. A candidate for this degree must have attended MBC at least part-time during his senior year, and must have completed at least 36 credit hours in residence at MBC. This course will give the missionary student a firm foundation in the background of missions from a biblical and historical perspective. Students will learn the art of deputation, as well as how to put together a display, printing, and presentation. Other subject matter to be covered will include emergency medical treatment, survival techniques, managing stress, cultural adaptation, language study, choosing a sending agency, and much more.
By the time the missionary student completes this course, they will be more than prepared for candidate school and other practical aspects of missionary life on the field. top
Youth Ministry This degree is designed for those who feel directed to work in the bus ministry, Sunday School, or youth work. It requires 100 semester hours at MBC and/or another approved college, plus a thesis on a Bible or youth ministry topic approved by the Dean of Students, and a passing grade on the Doctrinal Comprehension Exam. A candidate for this degree must have attended MBC at least part-time during his/her senior year, and must have completed at least 36 credit hours in residence at MBC. top
Religious Education
This is a general Bible degree designed for men or women who are directed to
work within a local church ministry. Graduates who choose this degree will
be prepared to become an assistant pastor, director of education, pastor’s
wife, bus director or other ministries within the local church. It requires
100 semester hours at MBC and / or another approved college, plus a thesis
on a Bible or Religious Education topic approved by the Dean of Students. A
passing grade on the Doctrinal Comprehensive Exam is also required. A
candidate for this degree must have attended MBC at least part-time during
his / Her senior year and must have completed at least 36 credit hours in
residence at MBC.
This degree is not preparation for teaching in the elementary or high school
classroom. top One-Year Bible Certificate This non-degree program includes one year of Bible and related subjects. It is designed for the student who is seeking God’s will for his life or is desiring to better his understanding of God’s Word. A student must complete 34 credit hours of study, all at Massillon Baptist College. However, these 34 credit hours do not have to be completed within one school year. No thesis is required for this certification, and the student is not required to take the Doctrinal Comprehension Exam. top
